Eternal Truth

To the newborn babe
Laying in its cradle-
Rock-a-bye, rock-a-bye
All will be alright.
To a new found love
Who knows no fear-
Tra-la-la, Tra-la-la
This will last forever.
To the couple
At the alter
The ones who
Will never look back-
Roma-ma-ma, Roma-ma-ma
Marriage is unending happiness.
Do you believe
These whispered little something-nothings
Are solid, tangible, believable truths?
Sadly, sadly
Most beliefs that we believe
Are based on what we fear:
That the babe will suffer
And new love will die.
That vows will be broken;
That people all lie.
Is it frightening?
How easily your truth can be adjusted?
A clip and a snip,
Copy and paste-
A reality is born.
Should the truths
Of all people be explained?
Do you really want to know?
Some things are dangerous
They’re dangerous to know.
I’ve heard that deceit
Is emotional torture…
But what does that make truth?
While lies are inflicted upon us,
The truth is a fate we choose
